Running concurrently with the conference, the 2026 Power Battery Application & Ecosystem Exhibition was held at the Yibin International Convention and Exhibition Center. The exhibition covered a total area of over 50,000 square meters, attracting more than 200 companies from Spain, the United States, France, Germany, and other countries. Exhibits spanned the entire power battery industry chain, with dedicated pavilions for power batteries and materials, an international zone, energy storage, the low-altitude economy, new energy vehicles, and battery recycling and smart manufacturing equipment, showcasing benchmark demonstration application scenarios.
Beyond the conference venue, Yibin’s power battery industry is rapidly expanding across the city. The city has preliminarily established a green, closed-loop, full-industry-chain ecosystem encompassing upstream raw materials, midstream key components such as cathode and anode materials, downstream battery cells and complete new energy vehicles, and extending to battery recycling. Yibin has aggregated over 130 supporting projects, including cathode and anode materials, structural components, and separators, with production capacity exceeding 300 GWh, making it one of China’s leading hubs for the power battery industry, with the most complete supply chain, strongest supporting capabilities, and robust endogenous growth momentum.
Multiple Innovation Achievements Unveiled, Key Signed Projects Implemented to Empower Industry
At the conference, promotional sessions were held for innovative power battery products. Sun Weijie, Founder and CEO of DP Technology, unveiled the first intelligent solid-state electrolyte production facility. Powered by an AI-driven R&D system, the facility marks a major leap forward in the efficiency of solid-state electrolyte development.
During the preparatory phase for the 2026 World Power Battery Conference, Yibin engaged in intensive matchmaking and in-depth negotiations, securing a total of 183 cooperation projects. These span from leading “chain-enterprises” driving the industry to “specialized, sophisticated, distinctive, and innovative” firms extending and strengthening the supply chain. At the plenary session, 12 key industrial projects were showcased, including the Anhui Jinyu battery aluminum foil project, the Hangzhou Cestc BMS project, and the Hangzhou Starnano nano-silicon anode project, with a combined total investment of 15.75 billion yuan. These high-quality partnerships will further improve the full-chain ecosystem of the power battery industry, expand competitive industrial clusters, and inject strong momentum into the high-quality development of the new energy sector in Sichuan and across China.
As the “Power Battery Capital of China,” Yibin remains committed to the principle of “driving production through application, and integrating industry with use.” The city has made scenario expansion a key lever for cultivating new quality productive forces and strengthening industrial clusters, with a strategic focus on energy storage, green transportation, the low-altitude economy, and embodied intelligence. Moving forward, Yibin will continue to deepen the virtuous cycle of “scenarios empowering industry, and industry supporting scenarios,” striving to build a new landscape for the high-quality development of the power battery industry characterized by upstream-downstream collaboration and multi-scenario integration.
Global Leaders Convene to Forge a New Platform for Industrial Win-Win Outcomes
Ge Honglin, a member of the Standing Committee of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), former President of the China Non-Ferrous Metals Industry Association, and former Chairman of Aluminum Corporation of China (Chinalco), delivered a keynote speech titled “New Energy Metals: The Key to Future Energy Competition.” He noted that while China is the world’s largest producer of lithium-ion batteries, its dependence on imported lithium remains as high as approximately 60%, posing severe tests to the supply chain. Against this backdrop, Sichuan's strategic significance is particularly pronounced. Ge called for a systematic approach to bridge the time gap in resource development and transform the province’s lithium resources from a “reserve advantage” into a “supply advantage.”
From the sustainable development of mineral resources to the recycling of spent batteries, global collaboration is essential across the power battery industry chain. A keynote report by Smail Alhilali, Director of the Department of Circular Economy and Green Industry at the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), offered cutting-edge insights into the power battery sector from a global circular economy perspective.
In his keynote speech, Shi Zhengrong, Chairman of the Global Green Energy Council and Chairman of GCL Group, expressed strong confidence in Yibin as the “Power Battery Capital of China.” He announced plans to deploy new materials technologies in Yibin and Leshan, supporting the local power battery industry in extending and strengthening its supply chain.
With a commitment to a global vision and deeper international exchange, the Plenary Session's China-Spain Cooperation segment featured opening remarks by Manuel Francisco Gómez de las Heras Jaén, First Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Spanish Embassy in China. He outlined the competitive strengths of Spain’s automotive and power battery industries and expressed his hope that China and Spain would deepen energy cooperation and expand the space for mutual benefit.
Wu Qi, CEO of Contemporary Star Energy S.L. (CSE), Óscar Goitia, President of International Business at Mondragón, and Ignasi Claret Bahona, CEO of Ficosa Asia Pacific, delivered keynote speeches on industrial development and collaboration. The guests unanimously expressed their anticipation for China and Spain to continuously deepen pragmatic cooperation across the entire industrial chain of power batteries and green energy. They called for openness, integration, mutual benefit, and win-win outcomes to jointly explore new blue oceans of international green development.
“Electric drive empowers all things, and integration fosters coexistence.” As the wave of global energy transition surges forward, China’s power battery industry will undoubtedly join hands with the rest of the world, embracing a more open stance, innovative vitality, and firm green commitment, to write a “power response” for this era.(Wang Chunyan)
